The Three Attendance Calculations

Calculation 1 — Current Attendance Percentage

Attendance % = (Classes Attended ÷ Total Classes Held) × 100

Example: Total classes held so far: 84 Classes attended: 61 Attendance % = (61 ÷ 84) × 100 = 72.6%

This student is below the 75% threshold and cannot afford to miss more classes without consequences.

Calculation 2 — How Many More Classes Can You Miss?

Maximum additional absences = Total classes attended − (Required % × Total classes including future)

Since future classes are unknown, this is calculated for a fixed remaining count:

Formula: Max classes you can miss = Classes attended − (Required % ÷ 100) × Total classes held

Or more practically: Classes you can still miss = [(Attended − Required% × Total) ÷ Required%]

Example (current: 72 attended, 90 total, 75% required): Max miss = (72 − 0.75 × 90) ÷ 0.75 is incorrect — use: Classes you can miss = Attended − (Required% × Total) = 72 − (0.75 × 90) = 72 − 67.5 = 4.5 → can miss 4 more classes (floor to integer)

Calculation 3 — Classes to Attend to Reach 75%

If you're currently below 75%, how many consecutive classes must you attend?

Formula: Classes needed = (Required% × Total − Attended × 100) ÷ (100 − Required%)

Example (58 attended, 80 total, need 75%): Classes needed = (75 × 80 − 58 × 100) ÷ (100 − 75) = (6000 − 5800) ÷ 25 = 200 ÷ 25 = 8 consecutive classes (without missing any)

After attending 8 more with 0 absences: 66 attended ÷ 88 total = 75.0% ✅
